Dr. med. Peter Klöpel, Director Consulting ServicesPeter gained his medical degree from the University of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, in 1974 and spent several years working in the private offices of a GP and a surgeon. Before joining PharmaProjekthaus, Peter gained more than 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical medicine, particularly in clinical research. He worked in increasingly senior international and European management and operational responsibilities for a European, then a Japanese and finally a US pharma company before running his own Contract Research Organization for over 10 years. His track record in clinical development covers a broad spectrum of therapeutic areas amongst which are analgesics, pediatric vaccines, gastroenterology, dermatology, diabetes mellitus, respiratory diseases, urology, allergies, and osteoporosis; Peter also held the function of ‘Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance’ for a number of years. Peter’s particular interest areas are clinical trial methodology, service provider - sponsor interaction and relationship, ethics in pharmaceutical medicine, and non-interventional studies (NIS). He also strongly committed himself to scientific editing. Peter has been very actively engaged in scientific societies of Pharmaceutical Medicine at both the national and international level. Peter was President of the German Society of Pharmaceutical Medicine (DGPharMed) from March 1996 to October 2000, and from October 2006 to March 2011 he was Member of the DGPharMed Board, being responsible for press and public relations. In the year 2000 he was president of the International Conference on Pharmaceutical Medicine (ICPM 2000) in Berlin. Peter makes regular contributions to conferences and seminars as speaker or chairman.
